OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROMISE
For every Dorm Buddy™ / Dorm Buddy Plus™ purchased, Top Shelf Designs will plant a tree, thanks to the help of One Tree Planted.
All donated trees will be planted where they're needed most. Today, that includes restoring forests in the wake of significant wildfires like those in Paradise, California, repairing damage caused by industry and resource extraction, and supporting the endangered Southern Resident Orca of the Pacific Northwest.
ONE TREE PLANTED PARTNERSHIP
Top Shelf Designs is partnering with One Tree Planted to plant trees for landscape restoration. For every Dorm Buddy™ / Dorm Buddy Plus™ purchased, Top Shelf Designs will plant one tree.
“Working with One Tree Planted is a great fit for Top Shelf Designs,” said Top Shelf Designs' co-founder, Melissa McGloin. “As a small startup business made up of recent college graduates, we are passionate about the environment and doing our part to create a more sustainable planet. Given that our shelves are made of wood, we thought it would be fitting to donate a tree for every shelf sold; that way we can ensure that we are doing our part to give back and make up for the wood we have used. Sustainability is at the core of our business, and we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment through reforestation.”

Planting trees is one of the best ways to combat the damaging effects of climate change. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80 percent of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Trees also provide tremendous social impacts by providing jobs to over 1.6 billion people, empowering women in underdeveloped nations, and supporting communities devastated by environmental damage. Additionally, reforestation is consistently identified by scientists as one of the top solutions to the climate crisis. All trees planted as part of this initiative will support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

TSD's partnership with One Tree Planted is designed to be simple and encourage customers to get involved in global reforestation. For every item sold from Top Shelf Designs’ inventory, the company will give $1 to One Tree Planted to plant one tree. The trees are planted by local partner organizations and community volunteers in areas where there has been deforestation. With the help of the company EcoEnclose, our Dorm Buddy™ and Dorm Buddy Plus™ shelves are packaged with recycled, recyclable, and naturally biodegradable materials - whether that be our corrugated cardboard or water-activated packing tape!
Each order also contains an EcoEnclose "We Care Card" directing customers to information on how to reuse, repurpose, or recycle their packaging. Printed with vegetable-based ink, these cards are made of 100% recycled content and 100% post-consumer waste. They are also curbside recyclable & naturally biodegradable.
